Before it was clear that the new Resident Evil 7 is going to be everything we wanted a Resident Evil game to be, everybody was focused on the Resident Evil 2 Remake. Back when nothing is clear, the fans knew that they can probably still count on the Resident Evil 2 Remake to give them what they wanted.
However, after Capcom started releasing demo and trailer for the new game, people just lost interest in the Resident Evil 2 Remake game as they hop on the RE7 hype train. We are guessing that people will only notice the Remake once they are done with the RE7 game.
It is also believed that the new Resident Evil 7 game could come with a Resident Evil 2 Remake trailer. This rumor started after some people concluded that the black screen at the start of the first trailer was referring the Resident Evil 2.
