2014 Chevy Impala vs Toyota Corolla: The Executive’s Choice

Earlier this year, Chevrolet launched the new Impala and it has been a top-pick among the executives. Not long later, Toyota replicates something similar with the Corolla S Plus. Between the two, which is better?

The first major difference between both vehicles is the size. The Impala is so much larger due to it being a full-sized sedan. The Corolla stands as just a compact sedan. This also means that the Impala has more leg-room, hip-room and head-room for its passengers.

The Impala is powered by a 195hp 2.5L 4-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The Corolla, on the other hand, runs on the 132hp 1.8L 4-cylinder engine that is operated through an automatic gearbox.

While the Impala might have the more powerful motors, its efficiency suffers as a result. The Impala recorded 21mpg in city roads and 31mpg on highways. The Corolla achieved 29mpg on city roads and 37mpg on highways. This is about 23% more efficient than the Impala.

Then again, efficiency is not enough to name the Corolla as the victor. The Impala offers a more satisfying driving experience than the Corolla. Also, the fact that the Impala is more comfortable makes it the winner. Then again, the Corolla offers more value in the long run.
