Only a few short weeks after the release of Resident Evil 6, Capcom has announced the development of Resident Evil 7. The game’s fans were gutted to find that Resident Evil 6 was more like Call of Duty – heavy on action and depressingly light on horror.
Capcom has been all-too aware of this criticism and has hinted that Resident Evil 7 will be restored back to its chilling self. The company said it realised that the game has been such a success precisely because of the terror it inspires.
There has been a genre shift, but Resident Evil’s protagonist has developed somewhat. He was once a rookie cop, now he’s one of the most important people on the planet. This makes us wonder if he’ll develop further in Resident Evil 7 to overcome the epidemic of evil.
Capcom also promised that Resident Evil 7 would have new features and possibilities that will that the game back to its rightful status at the top of the game tree.
