VW Beetle Gets Enlarged With SUV Concept [PICS]

The Volkswagen Beetle has gone through a lot of changes since it was first introduced in the 1930s and just recently, the world witnessed the Beetle Dune concept. The car, which was showcased by VW on the Detroit Auto Show, comes with a clean-cut design.

Earlier today, VW went public to reveal more images on the concept and it appears that the Beetle Dune will also come with fully covered chrome wheels. Also, the design comes with a small black wing at the rear. In short, the Beetle Dune looks more like a Crossover SUV than its predecessors.

VW claims that the concept design is production-ready and called the car as the sportiest Beetle ever. While there has yet to be the final word on the Beetle Dune’s creation, VW did teased that it is looking much more realistically towards a production vehicle.

If it were to enter production, the car is expected to be powered by a 207hp (210PS) 2L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that comes with a 6-speed DSG transmission. With it, the Beetle Dune can achieve knots to 60mph in a matter of 7.3 seconds. Also, the car will get a top speed of 227km/h.

The Beetle Dune will be a front-wheel drive vehicle and will also be equipped with a standard electronic XDS differential lock. VW has never been more excited and enthusiastic for a concept than the Beetle Dune. We are confident that the German carmaker will commence the production soon.
