2014 Mazda 3 vs Prius C: Hot Hatchbacks Collide!

Hatchbacks have never fallen out of trend due to their efficiency and simplicity to drive. Just recently, Mazda rolled out the latest 3 hatchback I Sport and it has been a bestseller ever since. Today, we shall find out how good the Mazda 3 is when compared to the latest Toyota Prius C One.

Both hatchbacks can accommodate 5 passengers and are built as FWD vehicles. The Prius C One in particular runs on the 99hp 82 ft-lbs 1.5L Hybrid Inline-4 engine that is mated to an Automatic transmission. Also, it is able to achieve 53mpg in city drive and 46mpg on the highway.

The Prius C One is truly the most fuel efficient hatchback around. In a single full tank, the car can achieve up to 504miles.

The Mazda 3, on the other hand, is powered by the 155hp 150 ft-lbs 2L 4-Cylinder engine that is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. While it may be more powerful than the Prius, it is far less efficient. The Mazda 3 is only able to achieve 29mpg in city roads and 40mpg on highways. However, the Mazda 3 is able to cover more grounds as it has a maximum range of 528miles.

Obviously, the Prius C One is the better hatchback of the two. Of course, this is if you are looking for the ultimate fuel saver. If not, then the choice is with the Mazda 3. It comes with all the high-end amenities that were previously lacking in small cars. On top of that, the Mazda 3 is also 0.7% cheaper than the Toyota Prius C One.
