Yesterday, Sprint proudly announced that it has signed an agreement with 12 carriers to expand its LTE network. For years now, approximately 34 million Americans have been voided from LTE coverage in rural areas and it will soon come to an end.
The agreement will ensure that Sprint’s ultrafast LTE network will reach out to the smaller regions and rural areas. The 12 carriers consist of C Spire Wireless, Carolina West Wireless, Flat Wireless, Illinois Valley Cellular, Inland Cellular, James Valley Telecommunications, Nex-Tech Wireless, nTelos, Phoenix Wireless, SI Wireless dba MobileNation, SouthernLINC Wireless, and VTel Wireless.
In terms of numbers, the LTE wave will provide coverage to 325,000 square miles spread across 23 states. The sudden decision to expand the LTE network arises after many iPhone 5S users complained that they were unable to optimize their device on the old WCDMA waves.
However, no date of completion got revealed on when the LTE network will be ready on the proposed area. Then again, it won’t be that long from now.
