The Nexus 5’s camera had been a disappointment to most people. The stock camera app takes poor picture even with the Optical Image Stabilization feature. Google had promised a fix as soon as possible. However, some developers from XDA had been planning to provide a fix before Google does.
There is a .zip file released that would replace the stock camera application with new one. The .zIp file was released by Jishnu Sur. The new camera app allows users to tweak the camera setting and improve the image and sound quality captured by the Nexus 5’s camera. The .zip file camera improves the Smooth Zoom, speeds up the focusing, the front camera can now record at 720p and adjusts the focus range among many other features.
However, this .zip file would need the Nexus 5 to be unlocked, rooted and flashed in custom recovery mode. For those who might not be so happy on the new camera the .zip file had brought, you can always revert back to the old one by reinstalling it. You can download both of the .zip files from XDA.
The beauty of using an Android smartphone is that users won’t always have to wait for Google or smartphone manufacturers to release fix and updates in case something goes wrong with their smartphone, third party developers tend to release a lot of high quality updates too. Let’s see who can come up with better new camera app for the Nexus 5.
