We have seen how the VW Golf GTi run rampant on the roads and it left us wondering on why there isn’t a Passat GTi. The car is already fast and it comes with tones of similar hardwares as seen on the Golf GTi.
This includes MQB platform, some interior elements and the six-speed manual and DSG gearboxes. Then again, the Passat is tailored to feed the needs of the executives, which are often reluctant to apply handbrake turns.
Today, the Passat GTi only exists in the fantasy world of concepts. The design shows the Passat embracing the red badge as it comes with the GTi bumpers, skirting and body kit. All four-rims are enlarged to make it look ferocious, while adding stability as well.
Back in reality, the Passat is still a powerful car. It runs on a twin-turbo 2-liter diesel that offers 40 PS and 500 Nm of torque. The Passat can achieve 0-100km/h in a matter of 6.1s.
While there is still no word on the future of Passat, we can all be certain that VW is planning to launch a more powerful 2.0 TSI with 280 PS model. This will make it faster than the Porsche Boxter. Of course, things will be a whole lot faster if there is a Passat GTi. Surely it will be the BMW M5 killer.
