Motorola Moto E Now Enjoys The Android 5.0.2 [Tutorial]

Last we heard from Motorola, they are performing a soak test on the Android 5.0 Lollipop but the tech manufacturer is still pending to launch the update for the Moto E. Well, Moto E users can now cut the queue as an XDA developer has already launched a custom ROM containing the Lollipop OS.

Created by percy_g2, the custom ROM is based on Android Open Source Project and it contains the Android version 5.0.2. While the ROM might be offering Mote E users the ultimate Lollipop experience, users should note that it is still in its early build so there are bound to be issues with it.

On the upside of things, percy_g2 promises to personally fix the issue through another update in the near future. Meanwhile, the lad shared that the only major problem with the custom ROM involves the Wake-lock feature.

So if you are a Moto E user and are not bothered by the problems on the custom ROM, then you can head down to XDA and download the firmware and the Google Apps Package. Once you have done so, you can refer to the following instruction.

Pre-requisite
• The ROM is only compatible with the first-gen Moto E
• Perform a backup of the device with CWM
• A minimum of 80% battery is needed to avoid any disruption
• The Moto E should be rooted beforehand
• Prepared to lose warranty for the device

Flashing Instructions
1. Connect Moto E to the PC.
2. Place CyanogenMod CM12 Android 5.0.2 Lollipop Custom ROM and Google Apps into the phone’s SD card memory. Both files should keep their .zip format.
3. Turn off Moto E and disconnect from PC.
4. Hold Volume Down button and Power Button simultaneously to enter Recovery Mode.
5. Select ‘wipe data/factory reset’ before selecting on ‘wipe cache partition’
6. Under ‘advanced’ select wipe dalvik cache’ before returning to the main recovery screen.
7. Tap on ‘install zip from SD card’.
8. Select the custom ROM and upon process completion, reboot the device.
9. Enter Recovery Mode again and this time, install the Google Apps like how it was with the custom ROM.
10. When process is completed, reset the device again and it should be running on the latest Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.
