Kingdom Hearts 3 Goes Old School But Scales Things Up

Anyone who has been waiting for more information about the upcoming game in the Kingdom Hearts series will be over the moon with the teaser that was put together by Disney at the Japan D23 Expo. This little gem should be more than enough to keep them sated until some real information is released about the upcoming game.

Geek.com said that the news about the new Kingdom Hearts game heading to consoles had been enough to start frenzy among fans of the franchise, however since this bit of news, news has been lacking. Square Enix seem to have got teasing down to an art form without giving fans an indication as to when they can expect the game. But this last video does seem to want to comfort fans that the game is going to be as close to the original gameplay style as possible.

The Disney video showed Sora fighting and when it comes to the combat system there is little doubt that it’s like a remake of the original but this time around in HD. It shows off the soft focus targeting system along with the combat menu to the left, while the team layout is on the right. You can see Donald and Goofy in the video and there isn’t any sign of keyblades making a comeback.

In the last scene, which is a huge combat scene, there is a fight with Titans from Hercules and it’s not just a fight with the monster as seen from the ground, this time it’s from the sky, which allows for a more interactive fight sequences. At the moment we have no idea if you are the person driving the huge glowing train, but it is very different environment that you are fighting in.

While we haven’t heard about a release date for Kingdom Hearts 3, retailers have taken upon themselves to start taking pre-orders for the game on the Xbox One and PS4. It is said that the game will conclude the story from the first game; however it isn’t not thought to be the end for the franchise.
