All developers like to keep quiet about what they are up to there is none more secretive than ZeniMax Media and subsidiary Bethesda Softworks, who were beind Fallout and Elder Scrolls games.
Prey 2 has been in limbo for many years and it has been said that it may have been transferred to another studio. Then there is Doom 4 from ID Software which supposedly has gone back to square one after being mismanaged. There is also Fallout 4 which has been the subject of many hoaxes from gamers.
Sources at PR pointed out that all has been silent when it comes to these titles. Recently job listings posted by Bethesda Game Studios suggested that there could be a new Fallout game in the works or maybe an Elder Scrolls title. However, it is not thought that Bethesda will begin talking anytime soon. We did hear that Todd Howard the Skyrim game director is working on a game that has been said to be nothing to do with Elder Scrolls Online.
A recent job application posting said they were looking for a programmer “to join our team that is pushing the bleeding-edge of RPG development for the PC and consoles”. Desired applicant traits include a knowledge of DirectX 11 and experience with all currently available consoles.” This could point to a game that is going to be cross gen.
Bethesda also posted that they wanted a quest designer to “[design] and [document] stories and quests for future next generation products”. According to the listing, “experience with The Elder Scrolls Construction Set or GECK [is] a plus”, as is “experience with previous Bethesda games”. GECK stands for “Garden of Eden Creation Kit when it comes to Fallout and is the name for modding tools in Fallout.
They are also on the lookout for an executive producer with “comprehensive knowledge of Action/Adventure/Shooter product genres”. This could also suggest a Fallout game.
The BattlecryStudios of Zenimax Media are also looking for staff as they are said to be looking out for new sever engineers along with gameplay engineers for online games. This would be in line with the reports in October last year about a free to play MMO game in development for consoles and PC.
We have also seen Battlecry asking for a senior environment artist for working on “an undisclosed AAA PC and next-generation console game”, plus a level designer “with a passion for building world class competitive multiplayer maps” and “shooter/action game experience”.
