Donkey Kong Tournament Crown Belongs To Canada!

A favourite game title from the past is never forgotten. While most of the gamers are busy with the likes of GTA 5, Donkey Kong held their third annual competition a couple of days ago to seek the best Donkey Kong player.

It was an exciting contest with a nostalgic feel for those who are raised during the Donkey Kong era. The competition concluded with 23-year-old Jeff Willms, retaining the title of the best Donkey Kong player. That is right. The same kid from Waterloo, Ontario successfully defended his championship and is the best Donkey Kong player for 2 years in a row.

The competition was held in Canada with some players coming from as far as Australia. However, the night ended with an unbeatable score of 1,096,200 points from Jeff Willms. The 23 year old young adult claimed the $3000 grand prize and a customized Kong Off 3 barstool. Of course, Jeff will also take home with him the championship belt.

Fan favourite Steve Wiebe got close to beating the score. He got swallowed by the intensity and pressure of the competition that he fell short, thus breaking his heart for two years straight. Mitchell already predicted Jeff to be the winner as the score is simply unreachable.

Jeff Willms is still young and might just be able to break the current high score record of 1,138,600 points, which is achieved by New York’s very own, Chien. The score recorded by Jeff came in as the 4th all-time highest yet.
