Aston Martin Designing A New Era Of Vehicles After Hallmark Grille Looted By Ford

It has been a dry and quiet past couple of years for Aston Martin as they run out of ideas for their vehicles. That is until earlier today; when the British carmaker returned to the spotlight as they teased on producing the next-generation DB9 that is due to arrive in 2017.

It appears that Aston Martin has been working day and night in their R&D department to create a blueprint for the upcoming DB9, thus, the quiet period. The company revealed that they are aiming to invent a new design language for their future vehicles after their signature grille was taken by Ford. It got harder for Aston Martin when the latter broke up with them back in 2007.

As such, Aston Martin wishes to start on a new original identity. They have hence developed a new platform, with the aid of Lotus engineering, which will consist of multiple forms of aluminium, including cast, forged, and pressed.

The best part about the new platform is its compatibility with most of Aston Martin parts that will help cut the production cost. Furthermore, the new architecture will be able to create convertibles, liftbacks and also, SUVs.

As for the powertrains, Aston Martin has acquired the help of Daimler’s Mercedes-Benz to produce 4L V8 engines that comes with twin-turbochargers. Also, some rumours revealed that the AMG 6L V12 is currently in development for the future Vantage.

It is surely an exciting future ahead for Aston Martin and its fans. For the past years or so, Ford has been the most profitable company as their cars, with the Aston Martin grille, bagged numerous awards. It is about time for Aston Martin to step up their game.
