We will be seeing the 2018 Toyota Supra for sure but what fans are hoping for right now is to see a new Mazda RX-9 that will go up against the new Toyota Supra.
Toyota made it clear that they will be working with BMW to come out with a new Toyota Supra. Toyota will also be working with BMW on the next BMW Z5. So will the Supra have an RX-9 competitor when it arrives?
While Mazda has yet to confirm their plans for the Mazda RX-9, they did say that the RX-9 will only happen if Mazda has the right rotary engine to power the RX-9. They also added that they are already working on a new rotary engine but whether it will be good enough to power the RX-9 is a whole other story.
It is believed that the RX-9 engine that Mazda is working on right now is a 1/6 liter SkyActiv-R engine that will be offering about 400hp. The Supra, on the other hand, will come with a 3.0-liter twin turbo V6 engine that will be offering about 400hp.
