With cars like the Porsche 911 GTS, you don’t really want to mess with the engine type but that is what Porsche is doing right now. Instead of keeping the naturally aspirated engine, Porsche announced that the 2017 Porsche 911 GTS will now be running on a 3.0 liter twin-turbocharged six cylinder engine.
Of course, the fans were not happy when Porsche first announced the upgrade even though the Porsche 911 GTS will ultimately gain more power from the new engine. We know that the same engine is used to power the Carrera S and it was able to deliver about 420hp there. With that in mind, the 911 GTS should be delivering more than 420hp when it finally arrives.
As if having extra power in not enough. Porsche also announced that they will be offering their customers a manual transmission option. That should help soothe the pain of the turbo upgrade.
The 2017 Porsche 911 GTS will also be lighter and more fuel efficient after the upgrade.
