We were all hoping that the 2017 Mazda 6 will come powered by the new Mazda engine but it looks like that is not going to happen this time around.
The new Mazda CX-9 was released with a new Mazda engine. According to Mazda, the new engine was made to be compact enough so that it will be able to fit into any of their Mazda models. Based on that, some Mazda 6 fans were hoping that the new engine will also be offered on the upcoming Mazda 6 but looking at the possible arrival date of the Mazda 6, it looks like it is not going to happen.
While the new engine would most likely fit into the upcoming 2017 Mazda 6, fitting it in is not going to be as easy as we think. A new engine would mean that Mazda will have to do a few upgrades and modification to get the Mazda 6 to run smoothly on the new engine and with Mazda looking to released the Mazda 6 soon, there is just not enough time to do it.
The new engine seen under the hood of the Mazda CX-9 is a 2.5 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that will be delivering about 227hp and 310lb ft of torque.
