2017 Honda CR-V: Some Surprises In MPG Tests

One of the reasons why the Honda CR-V is so popular among the consumers is because it does not compromise its performance for the sake of being fuel efficient and the same goes the other way round. The CR-V is known for being fast and yet fuel efficient in the past but were they successful in replicating that this time around?

MotorTrend has just revealed the result of their Real-World MPG results and they had some surprising conclusion about the fuel economy of the 2017 Honda CR-V.

Well, we know that the Honda CR-V is still one of the fast SUV in its class. The 2017 Honda CR-V will be powered by a 1.5-liter turbo four engine that will be offering about 190hp and 179lb ft of torque. There is also the 2.4-liter I-4 engine. With the engine, the Honda CR-V is not the second quickest in its class standing behind the Jeep Cherokee.

As for its fuel economy rating, the Honda CR-V turbocharged model is able to deliver about 27mph in the city and 33mpg on the highway. That is on paper. According to MotorTrend, the Honda CR-V was only able to deliver about 21.9mpg in the city which is far from what the spec sheets are saying.

Of course, even with that number, the Honda CR-V still manages to come second beating out the other 7 models in its class.
