In the US, more and more consumers are opting for diesel-operated engines. Just recently, analysts revealed that there is a 25% increase in the number of diesel vehicles sold in the first 6-months of this year.
Soon, Kia will be picking up on this trend as they look to roll out the diesel-operated Sorento and the Optima K5 in the US. Then again, this will not be happening anytime soon.
Kia’s representative, Hedrick, explained that the emission standards in the Europe and the US are holding them back. However, Hedrick revealed that things will soon improve with the EU6 but that will only happen in 2017 or 2018.
Obviously, Kia can’t wait to penetrate the US market by offering a wide array of diesel-operated vehicles. This year alone, the Soul electric EV will make its debut, thus rewarding Kia with the green badge.
With more and more consumers jumping on the diesel trend, we expect more and more vehicles to get the diesel treatment from their respective carmakers.
