After Apple won a decision against HTC on one of its patents, it has now set its sights on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus right here in the US, filing for a preliminary injunction against the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich phone. This time around, Apple cites 4 patents that the Android 4.0 phone allegedly infringed upon.
Apple files for preliminary injunction in US against Samsung Galaxy Nexus
One of the patents is the one which they won over HTC while the remaining three are those recently issued to the Cupertino-based company. MobileBurn explains:
“The three new patents cover unified search systems and Apple’s Siri virtual assistant, Apple’s slide-to-unlock feature, and autocomplete features in touchscreen text entry. Two of the patents are found in the case brought against Samsung, so this attempt to get a preliminary injunction against the Galaxy Nexus is likely related to that case.”
Apple is seeking to stop Samsung Galaxy Nexus sales in the US while both giants battle it out in court. Now there is one particular thing that makes this case different than all the other Apple-Android lawsuits. Given that the Samsung Galaxy Nexus runs stock Android and not some manufacturer customized version. If Apple does in fact win then it could create a ripple effect for all devices running any form of Android whatsoever.
