The iPad 3 is expected to hit stores sometime this quarter based on the previous refresh cycles for the Apple tablet. Now however, a more specific release date may have just popped up courtesy of the folks over at TheVerge.
iPad 3 release date rumors
According to TheVerge’s Joshua Topolsky, we may be lucky enough to see the Apple iPad 3 launch as early as this month, followed by a release in stores a week after that. Topolsky suggested the February 29th date after taking into account the last two iPad releases (original iPad and the iPad 2):
“Interesting point to note. There are 29 days in February this year (it’s a leap year), and the 29th falls on a Wednesday (the day on which Apple has announced every other iPad). The iPad 2 was announced on March 2nd, 2011, and made available the following Friday (March 11th). If Apple were planning on having these ready for the weekend of March 9th, it seems relatively possible that they could choose that date… perhaps with a catchy theme like “It’s time to leap ahead,” writes Topolsky.
Of course, this is just a prediction and like all Apple launches we won’t know for sure until a week before the actual launch date when the Cupertino-based company decides to send out media invites. We’ll keep you posted as more develops.
