While we were expecting the next best thing after the Samsung Galaxy Nexus would only break cover at MWC 2012 (Samsung Galaxy S3), it looks like there may be another contender in the ring.
LG X3 to take on Samsung Galaxy Nexus & Galaxy S3
If you thought CES 2012 didn’t have enough surprises, the latest leak from the folks over at PocketNow might entice you. The folks over at LG apparently have this beast of a smartphone cued to take on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus very soon (picture below). Reportedly packing a NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, another first for LG given that they got into the Guinness Book of World Records by pushing the LG Optimus 2X out first with a dual-core processor.
Other rumored specs include a huge 4.7-inch HD display which will likely be a True HD IPS panel like its siblings, an 8-megapixel rear camera, 1.3-megapixel shooter up font, 16GB of expandable storage, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, 2000mAh battery, NFC, and of course Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Unfortunately as can be seen from the image above, it appears that despite coming with Android Ice Cream Sandwich, it will still feature capacitive buttons instead of relying on the on-screen soft keys. And to make things even more interesting, it will stay below 9mm thick which is surprising given how bulky the HTC Rezound ended up being. We’ll keep you posted as more develops.
