Amazon has gone ahead and announced the top selling games from 2011 which reveals some very interesting details. Amazon for one has become a gamer’s paradise thanks to its exclusive pre-order bonuses, same day release shipping and overall discounts so their results do give a good reflection of the state of the gaming industry.
In terms of surprises, for one Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 came in as the top-grossing video game of all-time however barely made an impact on the digital downloads list. Another big surprise was that Nintendo didn’t have a single one of their titles in either of the two best-selling lists despite showing more Wii and DS/3DS units sold over any other console worldwide. That’s right, you won’t find Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Super Mario Land 3D or even the popular and Mario Kart 7 anywhere.
Lastly, although not much of a surprise, the best selling physical titles were released during the holiday season (October-December) while digital titles were evenly spread across 2011. Check out the list below.
