One of the must have Android handsets of this year is the Samsung Galaxy S3. It has been one of the most pre-ordered handsets and this has left carriers with problems as they have been unable to meet the demand.
US Samsung Galaxy S3 stock situation: AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile & Verizon
The majority of those who pre-ordered the 16GB handset on AT&T before 21st June have now received their phone, but there are some that are still waiting to get their hands on their pre-order. Those waiting for the 32GB versions have not been given a particular release date.
AT&T stated that they would have delivered the handsets that were pre-ordered on or before June 21st. When the 21st came around they then changed the date to 25th June, however only some of those who pre-ordered the handset have got it. The carrier had also said, earlier in June, that the Samsung Galaxy S3 would be in stores on June 28th, however this did not happen.
By now everyone knows that Samsung have been unable to meet what they call, unprecedented demand, for the handset. It has thought that this delay may have resulted in them losing around 2 million sales of the handset in the US. At the moment only T-Mobile in the US has the phone for sale, in some select cities. However they have decided to charge a higher price tag than the other 3 major US carriers, likely because they are the only ones with ready stock and may unwittingly be exploiting it.
On the other side, it seems that Verizon are the only carrier in the US to have pre-estimated the delay as they have said that the Galaxy S3 will be available from 11th July for in store purchase and in both the 16GB and 32GB versions.
Sprint are facing the same issue with shortages as other carriers in the US and they kicked off store sales just today. US Cellular will also have the handset but at the moment the carrier has not given a release date.
