Google Android 4.1 Jelly Bean features roundup

The engineering director of Google told everyone that the creation of text on the OS would now be much easier. There have been additions to ensure accurate typing recognition and they have put in an algorithm to determine what the user is actually typing. Furthermore the voice typing feature has been upgraded and now users do not have to be connected to the net for voice typing. Before this users had to connect to the internet to dictate.

Accessibility features have been included for the deaf or blind, one of these features is gesturing for communicating with the handset. Google also announced a new voice search feature that will compete with Siri. In one example of the new app, an employee of Google asked Google to show him pictures of pygmy marmosets and photos were returned of the dwarf monkey.

Android has also become more intelligent thanks to Google Now. This app helps people to navigate through their day. One example is a user who has an appointment on the calendar app at a certain location. Google would tell the person when to leave, based on the amount of traffic and continually keep an eye out on traffic on the way. Google Now is considered to be a personal assistant, with another example being the ability for it to show delayed flights when traveling by air, telling the user how far away the airport is and when they should leave for the airport.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will be available for certain Android handsets by the middle of July while app developers will be able to get their hands on it from Wednesday. Google have said that they currently activate one million devices on Android each day, which equates to 12 devices per second.
