Verizon HTC DROID Incredible 4G LTE Beats Samsung Galaxy S3 To Stores, Release Set For July 5

Verizon will be celebrating Independence Day one day late with the launch of the Droid Incredible 4G LTE on 5th July, reports DroidLife. This was rumoured last week so it has come as no real surprise when it was announced today. The biggest surprise is that the handset is to be launched two months following its official announcement at the CTIA in May.

Verizon HTC DROID Incredible 4G LTE release date set for July 5, sneaks ahead of Samsung Galaxy S3

No one really knows what the hold-up was and we will probably never find out. However it has been suggested that it could be the Share Everything plans that are the reason behind the delay. The reason behind this is that Big Red would surely not bring out a new device with major changes to plans being around the corner. Share Everything will happen on June 28th with the handset following and this means that Verizon will be able to get new customers locked into new plans with upgrades.

At the moment the price shows up as $199 when you take the phone on a 2 year contract. However there could also be a $50 rebate which would take the cost of the handset down to $149. It was hoped that Verizon and HTC would try to compete with the Samsung Galaxy S3 which is at $199 and comes with better specs so we’re keeping our fingers crossed for that rebate. The Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 release date was originally expected to fall before the HTC DROID Incredible 4G LTE however with numerous delays, it now looks like the S3 will roll out as late as July 11.

The HTC DROID Incredible 4G LTE specs resemble the AT&T HTC One X in many ways and while it is a powerful smartphone, the Galaxy S3 has slightly more powerful hardware and benefits.
