The AT&T HTC Vivid is the first Android smartphone in the US to receive the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update and it appears to have received a huge performance boost.
HTC Vivid gets performance boost thanks to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
Originally, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus was the only Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich phone available in the US market and because it came with the latest Android update from the get-go, we couldn’t tell if the Android OS gave any particular performance improvements over its predecessor i.e. Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
Now the folks over at VentureBeat put the HTC Vivid with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich through a series of benchmark tests and found that it has a 66 percent performance boost over its Gingerbread variant.
This suggests that we could see some similar improvement with other existing smartphones that are expected to receive the Android 4.0 update very soon (e.g. Motorola DROID RAZR, US Samsung Galaxy S2 variants, Samsung Nexus S, etc).
