4 Android Phones Upgrading To Android 4.0 ICS This Month

While Android Gingerbread is still the prevalent OS at the moment, existing Android smartphones are finally getting on the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich bandwagon after the update was announced late last year.

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update rolls out to Samsung Galaxy S2, HTC Vivid, HTC Sensation & Sensation XE this month

Originally launched with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update was suppose to make its way to the Samsung Nexus S. However some early bugs put the update on hiatus and there is no word when it will be made available again.

Despite Nexus smartphones always being the first in line to get the latest Android updates, Google appears to have given the all clear to other Android smartphone manufacturers to release the update to their devices this month. In the past couple of weeks, we have seen four smartphones already receive the ICS update: the Samsung Galaxy S2, HTC Vivid, HTC Sensation and Sensation XE.

While it may look like a slow rollout, with these 4 devices in the bag only 5 months after Android 4.0 debuted, the release cycle is still better than what we saw with Android 2.2 Froyo and even 2.3 Gingerbread.

The only surprise here is that the Nexus S is still sitting on Gingerbread.
