Months ago, we saw GTA 5 getting released. Rockstar’s latest title has been nothing short of awesome as the game boasts a huge map full of mysteries and excitement for the players to discover.
It seems that most games today are taking that open world approach as gamers appreciate the freedom they get in these games. GTA 5 is one of great example of it and there is no limit to what the fans can do in the game.
After playing GTA 5, some fans of the Half Life franchise brought up the possibility for Half Life 3 to have that similar open world gameplay.
Back in the first Half Life, things were very linear and straightforward. It wasn’t quite the case with the second title. Half Life 2 has offered a more open gameplay. Players get the rights to do their own exploration and such. However, it is still in the linear direction.
Even though there isn’t enough variable, but it seems that as more Half Life titles pops out, the more open it gets. With Half Life 3 still pending its development, there is a huge chance for it to offer a fully interactive open play environment.
Other factors that can strengthen this rumour are with the upcoming Source 2 game engine. This new and improved game engine can improve the game’s performance and utilizes the console’s capabilities.
While it all might sound great, having an open world might destroy the game. The cinematic fee; will no longer be present as players gets more control of the game.
All in all, it is down to preferences. Knowing Valve, they will definitely pick the better of the two and regardless of the choice made; Half Life 3 is going to be a great game.
