The first-generation Suzuki Swift is still a hot seller in most Asian countries so much so that it ended up spawning a sedan variant over in India with a joint partnership with Maruti. Now it looks like Maruti and Suzuki have already gotten busy with upgrading the new-generation Suzuki Swift hatchback with a boot for their iteration of the 2012 Suzuki Dzire.
“Bootylicious” 2012 Suzuki Swift Dzire sedan spied in India
The spy shots you see above were taken over in India where the Swift sedan is popular despite its somewhat odd proportions. As can be seen from the photo, the Swift sedan a.k.a Suzuki Swift Dzire looks pretty enough from the rear but its proportions begin to get funny since Suzuki wanted it to be below 4m in length to enjoy the Indian government’s excise benefits for small cars. As a result, the stubby butt of the new Dzire is shorter than its predecessor.
From the front however it is identical to the hot looking Swift hatch thanks to the new grille and fog lamp housings. The cabin also gets updated with a more luxurious dash and touches of two-tone wood trim.
The 2012 Suzuki Swift Dzire will likely be an India-only car and comes equipped with a 1.2-litre K Series petrol and 1.3-litre Multijet Fiat diesel engine options, both of which are already being used by other Maruti models.
