The latest Mazda 2 and Volkswagen Polo are two wonderful hatchbacks to own. Today, we are going to compare both vehicles and find the right hatchback for you.
In terms of performance, the Mazda 2 is equipped with a 1.5L unit and the one we tested in the comparison has 89hp to offer. The Mazda 2 feels sluggish in acceleration since it does not have a booster but it does manage to return great fuel economy.
The Volkswagen Polo, on the other hand, is powered by a 1.2L motor with a turbocharger on board. Acceleration is definitely faster on the Polo but it comes at the cost of fuel economy. Then again, the smaller engine capacity can make the Polo cheaper in taxes.
Both the Mazda 2 and the Volkswagen Polo has a nice interior to offer with a touchscreen infotainment system. However, we prefer the screen on the Mazda 2 as it stands above the dashboard instead of being embedded like the ones on the Polo.
The winner in this contest will have to be the Volkswagen Polo and this is owed to its turbocharged unit. The Mazda 2 can have all the great features but the lacking in performance is its downfall.
