The compact SUV segment is currently the most popular automotive market. Just last month, two new compact SUV were released and they are the Honda HR-V and the Jeep Renegade. While both vehicles might belong in the same segment, they have different things to offer.
For the Honda HR-V, the car is developed with the city folks and family in mind. This explains why Honda opted for the 1.5L 4-cylinder engine with CVT transmission and it is meant to make the HR-V fuel efficient. In figure, the HR-V generates 170hp and 106ft-lbs of torque.
The HR-V is also offers a comfortable interior too as it comes completed with features like air filtration, front air conditioning, audio controls on the steering wheel along with cruise control, phone control and steering wheel adjustments.
As for the Jeep Renegade, the vehicle arrived with a very stylish design all while being towed by a powerful 1.4L 4-cylinder turbo engine that is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. However, the Renegade feels underpowered when on the road even when it comes with turbo.
This is because the Renegade is not meant to be on the road but off it. Being a Jeep, the Renegade comes completed with all the best off-roading features that allow it to take on the dirt trails, ascend on hills and cross river with ease. The Renegade is in no way a fuel savvy vehicle.
For consumers that are having a headache in deciding between the two, the above comparison should clear up the air on which vehicle to buy. The Honda HR-V will fit best for general use while the Jeep Renegade is the ideal off-roading compact SUV.
