Ford came out to announce on the upcoming F-150 earlier today and it confirms that there won’t be a diesel variant coming. The America carmaker talked about the engines that will be offered with the F-150 but failed to talk about anything diesel-related.
In detail, Ford revealed that the next-generation pickup truck is going to have a structure made of highly advanced aluminium. This will ensure that the F-150 is super light, thus improving power output and fuel efficiency.
To make sure that the F-150 is able to offer such, Ford revealed that the truck will be come with two engine options. The first is a 3.5L V-6 engine and the second is a 2.7L EcoBoost V6 engine. The former generates 283hp and 255ft-lbs of torque while the latter generates a whopping 325hp and 375ft-lbs.
Ford then recommended consumers to purchase the EcoBoost variant. The promotion happened with Ford giving a comparison of the 2.7L mill with other engines like the 5.3L V-8 on the Chevrolet Silverado, the 3L turbocharged V-6 on the RAM and the 2.7L four-cylinder engine on the Toyota Tacoma.
Aside from being more powerful than its rivals, the EcoBoost V6 is also more efficient than the diesel mills. Then again, Ford failed to give out the fuel consumption figures of the upcoming F-150, although, consumers can look forward to the announcement soon.
