Honda’s luxury arm, Acura, has just launched the TLX but there is little to no anticipation for the sedan. Even so, we decided to test out the vehicle yesterday and found out why this is so.
In reality, there isn’t anything wrong with the TLX. It boasts a stylish minimalistic design and offers a smooth performance. However, we realized that the TLX failed to live to its full potential due to some poor mix and matching.
Acura equipped the TLX with a V6 engine that operates on the FWD system. In figures, the TLX has 290hp pumped through the standard 9-speed automatic transmission.
Well, things could have been so much better if the TLX runs on the SH-AWD technology that is paired to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. Such a rig will surely enhance the TLX’s popularity and make it more competitive in the luxurious market.
Then again, Japanese carmakers tend to avoid dual clutch transmission due to their wear and tear issue. This particular taboo can actually hinder Acura’s success further.
