2014 Mazda 6 Review: A Splendid Saloon To Own

Mazda has gone all-out this year as the company produced quite a number of great vehicles. We have talked about the CX-5 and the Mazda 3 but today, we are going to look at something bigger. It is the all-new Mazda 6.

The large saloon is built with the SkyActiv technology, thus, it is lighter, greener, smarter and more handsome than ever. Despite running on the FWD architecture, the Mazda 6 offers so much thrill when driving it that we are pleased in every way. The handling is also sharp and precise as the Mazda 6 maintains its grip on the road.

The saloon is offered with two different powertrain options. The first is the 2L petrol engine which failed to appeal to us. This is due to the loud, unnecessary noise it produce and the choppy acceleration when at high speed. The second mill is the new 2.2L diesel that is ultimately smooth, responsive, free revving and quiet.

Inside the cabin, Mazda is still far behind the Europeans as it strongly relies on shiny plastic. However, the carmaker deserves some credits for getting the seating positions spot on. The driver’s seat is low in height and the rear row of seats enjoys a lot of space. Furthermore, there are cubbies installed on the cargo floor to assist in keeping the luggage at its position when travelling.

There is no wrong in getting the Mazda 6. It is a fun vehicle to drive and also something super fuel economic. We wouldn’t be surprises if the Mazda 6 gets named as car of the year. That is simply how good it is.
