Both the Honda Accord and the Nissan Altima are two of the bestselling mid-sized sedan in the world. This is due to their cheap price tag, efficiency, reliability and comfort. However, between the two, which is the better car?
In terms of design, we feel that the Accord is the better looking sedan. It has a nice blend of sporty and executive with its design. The Altima looks too rounded and dull. Both vehicles are near-similar with their size but it is the Accord that offers more space. The 119 cubic-feet inside the Accord is more than the 101.9 cubic feet inside the Altima.
When it comes to performance, the Accord runs on the 185hp 2.4L 4-Cylinder engine that is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The Accord is able to achieve 24mpg in city roads and 34mpg on the highways. On a single full tank, the Accord can travel up to 585 miles.
The Altima, on the other hand, runs on the 182hp 2.5L 4-Cylinder engine that is mated to an automatic transmission. The Altima recorded 27mpg on city roads and 38mpg on highways. On a single full tank, the Altima can achieve 684 mile of travelling distance.
Obviously the Nissan Altima is more efficient than the Honda Accord. On the other hand, the Accord is 2.7% cheaper, retailing at $21,680.
Both vehicles are great in every way but we have to side with the Honda Accord on this one. This is due to its design and fun to drive thanks to the manual transmission.
