iPhone 6 Release Date: Old Habits May Die Hard

The release date for the Apple iPhone 6 could happen in Q2 of 2014 if the latest reports from Asia are true as old habits could prove too hard to break for Apple.

It has been said that the Apple iPhone 6 won’t arrive in May, with DigiTimes saying that the production of some of the essential components for the iPhone 6 will only start during the second quarter of 2014.

This speculation was based on information which was said to come from a supply chain insider, this would do away with earlier rumours that the iPhone 6 could arrive in Q2 to replace the Apple iPhone 5S.

More than likely fans of the iPhone will have to wait for some months before getting their hands on the new iPhone but there has been a lot of speculation about capabilities and features of the iPhone 6.

Features that are said to be all but confirmed for arrival with the Apple iPhone 6 include the TouchID fingerprint sensor which Apple launched on the iPhone 5S in September last year. DigiTimes said that once again this will feature on the iPhone with some improvements. It has been said that the TouchID could have pressure sensors made from LiquidMetal alloy.

There is talk that Apple will boost the display to be more in-line with a phablet. The security analyst at KGI Securities said that Apple would want to keep the iPhone one handed and so the display would not be too large.

The display could be upsized but it is thought that Apple will not go over 5 inches.

The display quality will be improved on the iPhone 6 with a better resolution being likely. Perhaps Apple will include a display of 1080p this time around. CNET said that Apple could use the LTPS LCD tech, this was used on the iPhone 5S.

Android phones are offering cameras of 13MP, with some as much as 16MP. However it is thought that Apple will only offer a camera of 8MP, which dates back to the release of the iPhone 4S. The camera will remain one of the best on a camera phone though.

Apple will refuse to be draw into the megapixel game it has been said and instead they will focus on improvements to engineering. Apple will want to allow owners of the iPhone to capture excellent quality photos regardless of light conditions.

Apple said that the 64 bit iPhone 5S was forward thinking and we can take from this that iOS is going to ease into breakneck processing speeds. The transition could be completed with the iPhone 6 and iOS 8 will arrive.

Should the Apple iPhone 6 arrive between August and September a new OS is expected to arrive on it as this would be in-line with the update cycle of Apple.
