The latest information about the Samsung Galaxy S5 is that it could be announced on 23 February, even though it has been said that Samsung will launch some products at the MWC this month. It seems that Samsung may hold separate events to announce their devices, which should include the release of the Samsung Galaxy S5.
Mobile Review said that Samsung may reveal the Samsung Galaxy S5 in Barcelona on 23 February, which would put it ahead of the MWC. It was said that the handset could be in retailers towards the end of April and it may arrive with the latest UI.
In a Tweet Eldar Murtazin of Mobile Review said “Samsung Galaxy S5 launch – 18.00. Barcelona. 23 February. Price the same. Launch – end of April. Specs – u know them new touchwiz ;).”
However the Tweet doesn’t go into any more details about what specs we might see other than the ones already offered.
Sources have said to expect a release of the Samsung Galaxy S5 which is similar to the timeline we saw with the release of the Samsung Galaxy S4. This would put the handset down to be revealed in March. The executive also said that Samsung will hold an event in March in New York.
Features thought to be coming to the Samsung Galaxy S5 include a display of 2k which would offer 1440 x 2560 pixels, a battery of 2900mAh and possible eye scanning tech. There have been reports of a device with the name of the SM-G900S being seen. The device was seen in December of last year with a display of 2k and resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and 5.2 inches, which was said to be the Samsung Galaxy S5. The display was said to offer 560ppi.
Sammy Today said that Samsung put in a design patent which has been approved by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. This showed a handset without the buttons on the front panel.
