Come 2016, a new looking Explorer will launched by Ford. However, car junkies don’t have to wait another 14 months or so just to get a look at the upcoming Explorer as spy shots of the vehicle has surfaced and it gives the world a glimpse at the future as SUV.
Unlike most spy shots, the Explorer Facelift camouflage is only limited to the front and rear section. This confirms that the changes are restricted to those areas.
Even so, we can still see through the wrappers and identify a new looking front headlamps and grille. Also, the front bumpers are slightly bigger than before and the fog lamps are also positioned at a higher spot. Over at the tail section, the changes involve the light clusters, tailgate and bumper designs.
Unfortunately, these are the only information that can be sourced from the spy shots. If the rumours are to be referred to, then the Explorer will be running on a redesigned 2L turbocharged EcoBoost engine that will offer better fuel economy and power than the existing 240hp 2L engine on the existing model. The new mill is said to run on the AWD system.
In addition to that, rumours are also indicating the possibility for Ford to introduce a new turbocharged 2.7L V6 EcoBoost that delivers 300hp with the upcoming Explorer. Then again, there is no confirming this fact so it is best to take it with a pinch of salt. Everything will surely be clarified by Ford in a matter of time.
