A recent poll by PC Advisor showed that almost half (49%) of respondents prefer Google Android to any other smartphone OS. This is a shock, as Apple’s iPhone – which only got 26% of the vote – is regarded as the market’s most desirable smartphone.
iPhone vs Android: Android liked twice as much as iOS
Not far behind the iPhone is the Windows Phone on 17%. This is interesting because, according to a Kantar ComTech survey, the Windows Phone has only a 2.5% marketshare compared to Apple’s 28.7% and Android’s 48.5% share. Are times changing?
RIM, the beleaguered Canadian company, will be further depressed to find that its OS only gets 6% of the vote. This is another interesting finding, as BlackBerry has a perfectly respectable 17.1% of the UK’s smartphone market right now. This may mean that this decent figure may start heading south unless RIM can get its act together.
The dregs of the pool – 2% – went to “other”, which sounds the death knell for Nokia’s tragic Symbian platform.
