Verizon Confession! Nexus 7 LTE Waiting For KitKat Unwrapping

We had heard previously that the Nexus 7 LTE was not supported by Verizon despite Google announcement that the Nexus 7 LTE is compatible with Verizon’s network. Verizon even refused to activate the device on their network and claimed they need a few weeks to get the certification process done.

Now, Verizon had announced that they will be suspending the certification process until the Android 4.4 KitKat is updated on the Nexus 7 under Google and Asus request. Previously there had been a system error on the pre-installed Jelly Bean OS on the Nexus 7 LTE. Google and Asus were required to provide a fix before the Nexus 7 LTE can be activated on Verizon’s network. However, it seems like Google and Asus wanted to save the extra effort working on the Android Jelly Bean OS and wanted to proceed the certification process using the Android 4.4 KitKat instead.

Google might take some time to get the Android 4.4 KitKat to the Nexus 7. After the update on the Nexus 7 LTE tablets, the Android 4.4 KitKat for Nexus 7 would have to go through certification process with Verizon. It will surely take up some time before Verizon would activate the Nexus 7. If they would, that is.
