Owners of iOS devices who have jailbroken their device can restore the handset to factory settings and therefore gain back the warranty status by removing the tweaks that came with the jailbreak.
It seems that owners of the devices don’t have to worry about voiding the warranty of their device or having to forget about the technical support that Apple offer. They can get back the warranty status by restoring the device back to factory settings.
So if you wish to go ahead and restore an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch you can follow the steps that are outlined below.
Before you start you need to have the latest iTunes on your device and owners should make a backup of the data. Then the Find my iPhone feature has to be turned off in Settings – iCloud and toggle the Find my iPhone to switch it off. At the same time this will disable the Activation Lock. Be aware that it can take some time to restore the device from iCloud, this will depend on the amount of data and the internet connection speed.
To go ahead and restore the device owners have to connect the device to the computer and wait until it is recognised by iTunes and choose the device from the list. The Restore button can then be pressed; this is in the Summary tab. You will get a confirmation prompt and you then have to hit the Restore button to start the process. Wait until the device has been restored and it will then restart automatically. You will then see a message that says Slide to set up and you can then follow the instructions on the display and then restore the handset.
The cellular service will be activated when the restoration has been completed.
