Before Mazda announce the 2017 Mazda CX-5, there was a rumor going around saying that the Mazda CX-5 might be coming in as a premium model when it arrives. There was also speculations about the performance upgrade and price hike since it is now a premium model.
However, it is clear now that the 2017 Mazda CX-5 will remain in the same segment for the time being. While Mazda has not announced the price for the US model yet, they did announce the price for the Japan model.
The Mazda CX-5 will retail for $20,800 in Japan. Of course, the price will not be the same when it makes its way over but at least we know where it stands right now.
The 2017 Mazda CX-5 will be powered by a 2.0-liter SkyActiv-G engine as well as a 2.5-liter engine. Mazda will also be offering us a diesel engine for the first time. The diesel model will be powered by a 2.2-liter engine.
