Range Rover Evoque vs Porsche Macan: Close Contest But The Winner Is…

The Porsche Macan is the bestselling luxury SUV at the moment and is also the most unique of them all. Why? Because the Macan might be a large crossover but it is able to perform like an average, high-end sports car. The Macan is something totally different to the Range Rover Evoque, even though it belongs in the same segment. Today, we are going to compare both vehicles.

Looking at the Macan, the vehicle offers a low seating position that simply defies the law of physics. Such a feature gave off a sports car feel, which makes the driver forget that he is driving an SUV. However, the Macan lacks the premium tech features that are fully loaded on the Evoque.

The Macan in this comparison is the Diesel S variant. Despite running on the 254hp 3L V6 engine, we were surprised by the Macan’s smooth and quiet idling. The Evoque, on the other hand, is powered by the 187hp, 2.2L engine that is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. As great as it sounds, the gearbox lacks responsiveness when we tried to hit the high revs.

Handling-wise, the Evoque amazed us with its precise steering that acts quickly at every turn. However, the vehicle suffers from body rolls that aren’t comforting at all. This is where the Macan excels. It is able to swift at every curvy roads and sharp turns.

When driving without a road, the Evoque is so much better than the Macan. The British SUV has a high ground clearance and Land Rover’s hallmark all-terrain system which enables it to take on 80% inclines, muddy bogs and steep, slippery descents easily.

Then again, not everyone would love an off-road adventure with something luxurious. This is the Macan’s winning factor as it is built for the roads. The luxury SUV will appeal to the crossover lovers, while also blessing them with a performance and handling like a sports car.
