2015 Porsche Panamera: Time For An Extreme Makeover

Back when the Panamera first made its debut, everyone was thrilled for the SUV but was utterly disappointed by the way Porsche designed it. This will soon be corrected as the German carmaker is now producing the next-gen Panamera that is due to arrive next year.

Porsche CEO, Matthius Muller, acknowledged the ugliness of the existing Panamera and revealed that things will definitely change for the better with the upcoming successor.

Then there is the company’s design chief, Michael Mauer, who confirms that the upcoming Panamera will look gorgeous and different from its predecessor. The lad then added that despite the many changes, consumers will still be able to recognize it as the Panamera.

While things have yet to step into detail, we have learned that the Pnamaera will get its headlights from the 918 Spyder and full-width taillights from the Sport Turismo concept. The latter will also be the main inspiration for the upcoming Panamera.

Also, the SUV will be built on the MSB platform from VW, which is identical to that on the latest A8 and Bentley Continental. With such architecture, the Panamera will be so much lighter than its predecessor. The featherweight body will tremendously improve on fuel consumption.

While nothing has been revealed on the powertrain that will drive the Panamera, we believe that Porsche will fit in a turbocharged motor that also comes with diesel options like the Macan.
