Samsung Galaxy S5 & HTC Two Battles Lines Drawn Already

Two phones that are in the headlines at the moment are the HTC Two (AKA HTC One M8) and the Samsung Galaxy S5. Reliable sources say that these devices might be out as early as February and April. The February release rumour stems from the fact that MWC takes place in Barcelona then. We also heard about an infringement case between Nokia and HTC, on which a judge ruled. In the course of the case it emerged that the HTC Two would be out in February. The Galaxy S4 came out at MWC last year.

The HTC Two/One M8 release date was revealed by the judge, who said: said “HTC paints a dramatic picture of what will happen am bound to say I am somewhat sceptical about this evidence given that HTC will shortly be launching a new flagship phone which cannot be assumed to infringe and therefore be caught by the injunction. Nevertheless, I accept that there is a period between now and February or March 2014 when HTC is vulnerable.”

This was all referring to an injunction banning the sale of the HTC One Mini in the UK.
If this happens, then the HTC One Max and HTC 8X and 8S will be taken off the shelves as well. This injunction hasn’t happened yet, as it’s on hold.

The MWC 2014 and CES are the two biggest trade shows going, and Samsung likes to reveal handsets at them – the Galaxy S4 came out at MWC 2013 and the Note 3 at CES. Market experts predict that Samsung will launch the Galaxy S5 and the Note 4 at these events this year. We might also see the Galaxy S5 in April, and see the Note 4 and the F Series even earlier.

The Galaxy S5 might have a 64-bit chip, a 16MP camera, a metal body (at last!), a curved screen and a 2,000 resolution. We don’t have any details about the HTC Two/One M8 yet.
