When Samsung launched the Samsung Galaxy S5 they told us that the handset was dust and water resistant. However this hasn’t stopped the need for them to come up with an Active variation.
@evleaks said that he has seen the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active rear its head and it comes with the model number of SM-G870x. The handset is going to be arriving on Sprint and AT&T, along with other carriers.
Just as with the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active should be a more rugged version of the standard version of the handset.
But then you do have to bear in mind that Samsung said that the Samsung Galaxy S5 is a rugged handset, so what differences there will be between the original and Active version is not known.
Speculation was going around that Samsung would launch a version of the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active along with the Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom version. The company launched the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom in 2014.
This came from a website in Korea that said they got this from sources in the know, however Samsung haven’t said anything to confirm or deny it.
In the same report it was said that Samsung wants the sales of the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active to make up about 20% to 30% of the global Samsung Galaxy S5 numbers.
This is a jump up from the predicted 4% of global sales of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active. So perhaps Samsung knows something that we don’t know about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 Active and it may be more than just a more rugged version of its sibling.
