Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy S3, Note 2 or the Note 3 may be interested to hear about a code that can unlock a locked version of Samsung handsets. Once unlocked the device can then be used with any SIM card anywhere around the globe.
For instance anyone who owns the Samsung Galaxy S3 which they bought on Verizon with a contract, can only use the Verizon SIM as the handset is locked. However once the handset has been unlocked any SIM card may be used.
To unlock the Samsung handset just take out the SIM card that is in the device and put one in that belongs to a different carrier. Switch the handset off and then switch it back on again.
Open up the dial pad on the handset and enter the code *#197328640#. Go to your main menu > [1] UMTS > [1] Debug Screen > [8] Phone Control > [6] Network Lock > Options [3] Perso SHA256 OFF. Wait for 30 seconds or a minute before going back to your main menu and choosing “back”. You will now see a “Network Lock” message. Choose [4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ.
If you typed in the sequence right, it should read: “Asterisk Pound One Nine Seven Three Two Eight Six Four Zero Pound”. Remember that some people call the asterisk “star”, and the pound button “hash”.
The Samsung Galaxy device will now have been unlocked and any SIM card should work in it. The engineers at Samsung have used the code for some time, so it may work with many different Samsung devices.
