Anyone who is considering moving away from the Apple iPhone to an Android device should be aware of a very serious glitch that has surfaced. If moving you should turn off iMessaging before you make the move to an Android device. It seems that there is an issue where people may not receive SMS messages on their new device as messages are still being counted as being iMessages. We have seen numerous complaints from users who came across the glitch too late.
One owner of an iPhone who made the move to an Android device said that even when they turned off iMessage some contacts still weren’t able to send texts to the new Android device. Another user said that they couldn’t understand why they had stopped receiving text messages until they read about the issue and found them all on the iPhone in the drawer when it was turned back on. We also heard that another user had to change one of their customer’s phone numbers before it would dissociate it with iMessage.
Some users have been offering solutions to the glitch, with some reporting to have worked and others not. One solution is to remove your number from iCloud, iMessage and Facetime, but it seems that you can miss texts in-between.
Another user said that they deleted the contact information in their iPhone, along with all the conversation history in the messaging app and then sent a test message and got a reply back. He then added the contact as a new contact. However this is not a suitable answer if you happen to have hundreds of contacts in your list.
So it seems to be the case with Apple of “it just works”, providing of course that you don’t try and leave them to move onto Android.
