Latest HTC One Android 4.2.2 Update Dissected

After months of anticipation, HTC has finally rolled out the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat update to its HTC One devices. It is being distributed by major carriers at the moment and comes with many new features and fixes.

In the US, Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon are all rolling out the KitKat. The international version too is being updated based on the US release date.

The same is happening in Canada where the HTC One and the One Mini are being updated by Bell, Wind, Virgin, Rogers and SaskTel.

Then there is the HTC One X which is also lined up for the KitKat update. The Taiwan-phone manufacturer confirmed this and the KitKat will look to arrive around the same time with the HTC One’s update.

The 4.4.2 OS will bring with it the Sense 5.5, cloud printing, Blinkfeed update, Bluetooth profiles and security enhancements should arrive with all carriers.

The disappointment is with the camera-tint issue which is still not being fixed. The issue, which has been around since Jellybean, is with the coloured tint which spoils the image captured with the camera.

It was first thought that the KitKat will see an end to this but it turns out to be unfixed. As such, it is safe to assume that the problem is with the hardware, not the OS. Users affected are encouraged to head down to the nearest HTC centre and get their cameras checked.

On the other hand, users can tweak the contrast and saturation settings on the camera app and reduce the tint accordingly.
