The demand for sedan and wagon have been slowly down for some time now and some models were hit harder than the other. One model that is clearly suffering right now is the Volkswagen Passat.
Due to the lack of demand, Volkswagen was forced to shut down the Volkswagen Passat plant in northern German. It was initially announced that Volkswagen will be shutting the plant down on the 25th of January until the 21st of February but they have now extended the period to also include the 16th, 17th and the 21st of February.
Volkswagen made it clear that the demand for Passat have been going down and they cannot guarantee that there will not be any more shutdown in the near future.
Consumers seem to be looking for hatches, SUVs, and Crossovers right now and the Passat is just one of the many sedans that are suffering.
